What's your best tweet?
9/18/09 at 5:25pm: "MUST-READ BREAKING NEWS: The FDA calls 1st ever PUBLIC HEARING 2 discuss DRUG PROMOTION using INTERNET & SOCIAL MEDIA"
What are six things you could never do without?
My family & friends, cappuccino, pasta, wine, movies, and an Internet connection. (not necessarily in that order!)
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
Keeping the pulse on trends, sharing innovative ideas, informing peers what's going in ehealth, building/growing the #fdasm movement.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
tweetdeck, duh! Wish they had it for the Droid.
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter, for sure. Facebook for friends & family, however.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
#youknowitsoverwhen -- I love that!
What feature should Twitter add?
A better way to manage followers (sort, rank, follow back, etc.) and find new ppl to follow. "Lists" was OK, but still a very crude system.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
Steven Spielberg and God (though I suspect God probably wouldn't follow me back).
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
"Tomorrow". I once shortened it to "2morrow" & someone called me on it and I agree. You only save 1 letter and ruin a beautiful word!
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
Oh, so many, and a very mixed list. A few: Ashton Kutcher, Alissa Milano, John Battelle, Chris Brogan, and Pete Cashmore,
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Yes. Spammers. Those I un-follow, I typically block as well. I have also un-followed ppl who repeatedly tweet off-topic or in bulk.
Why should we vote for you?
Not for me, honestly, but for the #fdasm movement. I would like to bring more attention to the issues related to e-health communications.
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
#fdasm, of course!
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
@whydotpharma: after a yr of tweeting, I learned she had quit her job 1 yr b4 b/c she was inspired by something I said in an interview. Wow.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
#fdasm, for those who care about healthcare, social media, and marketing/communications. But honestly, not sure if I actually "created" it.
How do you make your tweets unique?
Find something unique to talk about, add an original POV to a conversation, share something that has not been widely-distributed
What inspires you to tweet?
A desire to share important information with others, or connect people to relevant information. It's really satisfying to help!
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Not really, but that doesn't mean that someone hasn't thought it. I've probably been guilty of it, especially during conferences.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Spend some time researching topics that interest you, find the thought-leaders, follow them, and learn twitter etiquette before you tweet!
How long can you go without a tweet?
Not long, esp. reading tweets or Re-tweeting important news. I can hold off on an original tweet if I have nothing new to contribute.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
Why did you spend yr time answering these 27 questions? B/c I want ppl to know I really do care about what I do & would be honored to win.
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) - for the simplicity of his tweets, the personality they emit, and the understanding of his audience he exudes.
Why'd you start tweeting?
I have always craved large quantities of information in bite-sized pieces, and twitter is the perfect tool to feed my hyper-ADD needs.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
For me it has created an entirely new professional social circle comprised of some extremely smart people -- I have learned so much!
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Be more supporting/helpful of each other, and spend less time just whining or being a critic. If there's a problem, suggest a solution!
How will the world change in 2010?
@skypen will win a Shorty for #fdasm & the subsequent media attention will bring the movement & related issues into the mainstream (dream :)
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Bulk-tweeting. Re-tweeting yourself. Tweeting w/out giving credit.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
Technologically dazzling, scientifically astonishing, and about 5 degrees warmer (sadly).
