The Shorty Interview
with PR.BorisKhodorkovsky
What's your best tweet?
It is sometimes better to List than Follow, and Favorite than Retweet.
What are six things you could never do without?
Music, women, silence, nature, freedom, Twitter
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
Communicating with media and PR professionals all over the world. Getting the news before the media gets it. Promoting talents & rising stars.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Tweetdeck & Twikini.
Twitter or Facebook?
Definitely Twitter
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
#cowfilms — never been there, but the trend is funny by itself.
What feature should Twitter add?
Multy-level nested Lists. «Recommend» feature. Browsing tweets history not in line mode, but in calendar view. Group select 4 blocking spam.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
God — with verified account.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
wisdom
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
@FortuneMagazine
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Yes. @politiko — for yellow journalism. And many others, who started well, but became quasi-marketers, selling rubbish with every tweet.
Why should we vote for you?
Because I opened eyes of hundreds of Ukrainian journalists and news editors to Twitter, and taught them to use it effectively.
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
#Ukraine #Odessa #wisdom #gourmet
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
David Brewer @HelpingMedia — the creator of CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera English websites.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
#favRest — for your favorite restaurant.
How do you make your tweets unique?
Those ones that are unique rely on sense of humor, being 100% myself , always using the proper typography.
What inspires you to tweet?
Great people, great thoughts, great changes.
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Sometimes, but mostly by people who do not read many others on Twitter.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
Start small. Follow just quality sources of information and people. It is better sometimes to LIST instead of FOLLOW, and FAV instead of RT.
How long can you go without a tweet?
I easily live without tweeting for several days, but sometimes you just can't stop me, and I tweet for hours and hours, especially en route.
What question are we not asking here that we should?
Define Twitter in 140 characters.
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
Stephen Fry @StephenFry, Paolo Coelho @Paulo Coelho, and @MediaUkraine
Why'd you start tweeting?
To tell the story, to share the valuable information, or to bring a light onto someone or something amazing.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Yes it did. Twitter is a real time saver when used wise. It replaced reading through dozens of news sites & expanded my pro network.
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Report more facts and less news. Tweet own opinions and feelings instead of someone else's.
How will the world change in 2010?
Considerably it will become more facts then news oriented more people than governments centered, and more open and collaborative.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Ignorance, following everyone who follows you = populism, forgetting the real life offline, not mentioning the author of quote or the source of news.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
In 30 years, you won't believe it, but it will have more in common with ancient Greece than with XX century world. But 10—not enough time.
