How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
A lot of news comes from different sources (sponsors etc), so we try and link it all together. We also try to promote the science to everyone
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Tweetdeck. It allows us to quickly and easily respond to questions and keep an eye on related topics.
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter. It is so much more NOW.We love getting & answering questions instantly.Getting updates to the world is fast- that's what we're about
What feature should Twitter add?
A discussion topic. Like tags, you could follow all tweets on a certain topic by a user. It would make discussions more coherent.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
Richard Noble. He is continually running around, talking to fascinating people and inspiring the next gen. He just hasn't been persuaded yet.
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
Never. Everyone and anyone is welcome. The twitterverse is wide and varied. We love that. Inspiration comes from all sources.
Why should we vote for you?
We are about innovation, inspiration and involvement. Surely that is what twitter is all about?
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
Getting the public to decide a photo they want taken. It puts them in control & we see their level of interest. We get lots of dedicated fans
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
#photofriday - if everyone did it we would see the whole world of industry. imagine how great it would be if everyone opened their doors?
How do you make your tweets unique?
We ask what people want. What do they want to see? What do they want to know? How can they get involved?
What inspires you to tweet?
Involvement. We are all about inspiring people. What better way to do that then getting them involved?
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Once. We were tweeting a live event and got accused of clogging the stream. There were lots of announcements though that others loved.
Why'd you start tweeting?
To inform at first. Then people started asking questions and it changed to an interactive setup. Originally we wanted to keep people updated.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Yes. It has brought us closer to our followers. We are a project about inspiration; the way to inspire is through connecting. We rely on that
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Ask questions! There are so many sources of information out there, what better way to enhance your learning?
How will the world change in 2010?
Innovation will lead they way. The only way to face the challenges the world faces is to inspire and innovate. 2010 will see the shift.
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
There will be a new generation of scientists and engineers. Innovation will be valued above all else in a world of technology.
